Lacombe County is located in Central Alberta and is south of Edmonton and just north of Red Deer.
With a rural population of over 10,000 people, there are currently over 3,700 homes. The County is made up of four towns (Bentley, Blackfalds, and Eckville), two villages and summer villages, as well as several hamlets. The County’s scenic landscape and friendly communities make it a great area for families and businesses to thrive. Due to its central location, Lacombe County is just a short commute to Red Deer, and is easily accessible from Edmonton or Calgary via QEII while HWY 12 runs east to west across the county.
Since 2006, the area has seen a steady growth rate of 3.7%. The impact of the agricultural industry has fostered an excellent community in the area. The land is home to numerous feed lots, malt production, grazing lands, greenhouses, and agri-food companies. Lacombe County is also home to one of the worlds largest ethylene production facilities, Dow Chemicals, which is a major employer in the area.
Lacombe County residents have access to local healthcare facilities, recreational amenities and grade schools within their closest town or village, as well as the Canadian University College located nearby.
Sylvan Lake, Gull Lake and Buffalo Lake are all within an hour’s drive from most Lacombe County homes. There’s no shortage of leisure activities suitable for the whole family, including the Ellis Bird Farm, Lacombe Country Corn Maze, plenty of golf courses for all skill levels and a horse race track.
